Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office will Participate in Bowden vs. Bowden Blood Drive
{sidebar id=1}Southeastern Community Blood Center (SCBC) has entered into a friendly competition to see which community, FSU or Clemson, has the most heart. The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Blood Drive is one of several community blood drives which will count toward the most units of blood collected in the Bowden vs. Bowden Blood Drive Week.
Residents of the Wakulla County area are encouraged to donate blood on Friday, August 31st, 2007, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The bloodmobile will be at the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office located at 15 Oak Street in Crawfordville. Please call Major Larry Massa at 926-0821 to make your appointment time. Walk-in donors are welcome also.
All donors who donate twice between May 1st, 2007 and August 31st, 2007 will receive an exclusive “Hands Down” t-shirt. All donors will receive a gift from the FSU Athletic Department.
Donating is a simple procedure. To be a donor, individuals have to be in good health, at least 17 years old (16 years old with a parent’s permission) and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds. According to SCBC, less than 5 percent of the eligible population actually donates blood. Your donated blood is good for only 42 days. Volunteer donors willing to help meet the needs of our community must continually replenish the blood supply.
For more information, contact SCBC at (850) 877-7181, (800) 722-2218 or visit its Web site at www.scbcinfo.org . All locations are open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Riggins Road location is also open on Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
