National Geographic-Funded Archaeological Project at Wakulla Springs during April Needs Volunteers
Three types of volunteers can participate in an exciting archaeological project near the Wakulla Springs Lodge. If you are available between April 7 and May 5, 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily (except Sunday) you can participate in the project.
What is the project? To determine the age of early Paleoindian material (earlier than 13,000 years ago).
Who is needed:
A) Field crew excavation team (sift sediments, recover specimens,label specimens, etc.). Total volunteers needed: 8 each day (2 per screening station)
B) Field data recording team: Illustrators, photographers,data entry
C) Docents/Public Relations

. Jim Dunbar is the principal investigator. Nationally-known consultants will visit April 21-26. National Geographic will film the proceedings. Deadline for signing up is March 28.
