TOPIC: Sewer lines

Sewer lines 5 Years ago
I would like to know if anyone has updates on the proposed, mandated new sewer lines that are to be in place in Wakulla:

...When, How much, How, etc? <Meetings with Kessler to enlighten homeowners of such....replacement of septic systems...

loans and grants and how they will be distributed to enable citizens to pay for this....

I would appreciate any timeline or information on this...please.:

Rumor? I remember hearing something like, we would be required to pay $5,000 to hook up - LOL; my septic tank works fine, and my home isn't on a 50X100 lot either - I'm very interested in grants and the penalties that are to be inflicted on those who do not cough up 5K.

It is from my understanding that if you do not pay to have the sewer line hooked up, a lein will be placed on your property. The county is going to hook it up regardless, so just let them pay for it and then when you sell cut your losses for the amount of the lein. That's my plan!

Thanks FSUDee - but I don't plan just letting undereducated government make decisions for my pocketbook and my property. Septic Tanks that are on a good deal of land are self sustainable, not to mention "healthy". I don't be laying down and letting someone walk all over my property or mandate I pay them to either.

What's going on??? Is this official? My dad just bought a house on a paved road in Mallard Pond and he is on a septic tank. I thought they weren't allowed to pave roads with no sewer. Can someone enlighten me? I want paved roads in Wakulla Gardens and i want them now!

go to mywakulla.com (county info) and county documents and look for the wakulla gardens sewer line document. Right now the horizon for hooking up is focused on Unit 5 by June next year. Unit 1 where you live: No funding. We ought to focus on paving the roads. --

no one ever said "you're not allowed" to pave roads w/o sewer. It is a matter of logic and finances. If you pave a road where you know you'll have sewer in a few years (ha, ha) the road might be torn up. The point in Wakulla Gardens is this: Know which unit your house is in. There are five units to Wakulla Gardens with almost 3,000 buildable lots. The sewer lines will be put in in stages. The lowest lying unit with the most problems and closest to the aquifer where your drinking water comes from (why poop in your own water...) is Unit 5 south of Lower Bridge Road and West of Spring Cr. Hwy.
Not all Units in Wakulla Gardens will get a sewer line at the same time, if at all. Where's the funding??

Sorry -- Click on the Residents tab at the top of mywakulla.com and then you'll find the Wakulla Sewer Line document.
