RPOF Welcomes Wakulla County Commissioner Mike Stewart to the Republican Party
The Republican Party of Florida today welcomed Wakulla County Commissioner Mike Stewart to the Republican Party. Commissioner Stewart recently switched his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican.
{sidebar id=1}"Across the nation and here in Florida, voters are tired of the Democrats’ tax-and-spend solutions to the challenges facing our state and our nation, and are looking to Republican leadership and the longstanding values of less taxing, less spending, less government and more freedom as the path to prosperity,” said RPOF Chairman Jim Greer. “On behalf of Florida Republicans, I am honored to thank Commissioner Stewart for his service and welcome him to the Republican Party.”
Mike Stewart is a 4th generation Wakullian. He attended Wakulla High School and graduated in 1973. Commissioner Stewart enlisted in the United States Navy and worked his way up through the ranks, earning a commission as an Engineering Limited Duty Officer. Commissioner Stewart retired from the Navy in 1993, returned to Wakulla and started the Navy Junior ROTC program at Wakulla High School where he continues to teach. He was elected to two consecutive terms as a County Commissioner from 1996-2004. An avid outdoorsman who loves to hunt and fish, Commissioner Stewart is married to the former Anne Quick of Tallahassee. The couple has one daughter, Rebecca Stewart.
