College and Career Day to be Held at Wakulla High

College and Career Day to be Held at WHS

surfboard.gif{sidebar id=3}Wakulla High will host their annual "College and Career Day"  for all Juniors and Seniors on Monday, September 17, 2007 in the high school gym from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m.  This year's theme is "Ride the Wave to a Great College Career", and the gym will be decorated appropriately.  Approximately 30 universities, community colleges and vocational/technical schools will be there with booths and exhibits. 

Parents are welcome to attend with their Junior or Senior.  The Seniors will attend the event at 12:10 p.m., and the Juniors will attend at 1:10 p.m.  Parents are welcome to attend at any time during the event, no matter what grade their child is in.

Students will be able to visit each school's table to gather information on scholarships, enrollment requirements, financial aid, etc.  Some of the colleges that will be in attendance are:

  • Florida State University
  • Florida A & M University
  • Tallahassee Community College
  • Lively Vo-Tech
  • Troy University
  • Barbazon School of Modeling
  • Thomas University
  • Warner Southern
  • Louisiana State University
  • Johnson & Wales (strong Culinary program)
  • Keiser College
  • Aveda Institute
  • North Florida Cosmetology
  • West Point
  • Tulsa Welding
  • Bainbridge College 

 ...and many more.  Sylvan and Kaplan will also be there with information on their Test Prep Mini-Courses for the SAT and ACT tests.  Hancock Bank and Nelnet will also be there to discuss financial aid packages and programs.

The event coordinators would like to thank Wakulla Bank for providing supplies, Pam Evans culinary classes for providing the refreshments, Cassie Tucker's art classes for providing the decorations, and Dennis Litchfield and his students for supplying decorative surfboards.
