Evelyn Carraway Gowdy, 81, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2012 in Crawfordville, Florida.

She retired from the U.S. Postal Service and  as secretary of First Baptist Church of Tallahassee.  She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Crawfordville.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Crawfordville.

Services will be held Sunday, September 9, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Crawfordville at 2:30 p.m.  Burial will follow at Whiddon Lake Cemetery.  Bevis Funeral Home, Harvey-Young Chapel, in Crawfordville, is in charge of arrangements (850-926-3333 or www.bevisfh.com).

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gilbert Gowdy and two sons, Duane and Craig Gowdy, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by one sister.  She is predeceased by one brother and two sisters.
