Crawfordville, FL – Wakulla County announces aerial spraying for mosquitoes will be conducted in certain sections of the County this Saturday, July 21st during the evening hours.
While attempts are made to notify the public, if unfavorable weather conditions exist then the aerial spray may be postponed until Tuesday, July 24th. The spraying is being conducted through FEMA, the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS), and Wakulla County Mosquito Control.
In addition, an outside vendor contracted by DACS is also conducting street truck spraying in certain sections of the County beginning this Friday evening, July 20th through Sunday evening, July 22nd. This truck spraying differs from the service provided by the Wakulla County Mosquito Control in that they will spray along the entire street and is very effective at covering a large area.
Both aerial and truck spraying will be done with Naled, an organophosphate insecticide registered for use by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. For a map of exact spraying locations and additional information regarding “Naled”, please visit the County website (www.mywakulla.com).
Lastly, all County residents are still able to receive home spraying through Wakulla County Mosquito Control. This service provides spray from the back of the home out to the road, but not street spraying. To receive home spraying please call (850) 926-0410.
