In Memory of Anne D. Rudloe

Bevis-logo-200Anne E. Rudloe, Ph. D., 64, died peacefully at her home in Panacea on Friday, April 27, 2012.

A noted marine biologist and author, Anne was managing director (ret.) of Gulf Specimen Marine Lab and Aquarium in Panacea.  Her scientific writings include Priceless Florida:  Natural Ecosystems and Native Species (with E. Whitney, Ph.D. and B. Means, Ph.D.).  She was a dharma master (teacher) in the Kwan Um School of Zen and wrote movingly about her observations and experiences in Butterflies on a Sea Wind: Beginning Zen, Zen in a Wild Countryand her blog.

She is survived by her husband Jack and sons Sky (Alyssa) and Cypress, both of Tallahassee.

A Memorial Service will be held at The Unitarian Universalist Church of Tallahassee, 2810 N. Meridian Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312, on May 13th, 2012 at 4:00 p.m.

Gifts in Anne’s memory may be made to the Anne Rudloe Education Fund at Gulf Specimen Marine Lab and Aquarium, P. O. Box 237, Panacea, FL 32346 or to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
