Drug Take Back Day Set for Saturday, April 28
Written by Keith Blackmar, Public Information Officer, WCSO Thursday, 26 April 2012 11:57
Sheriff Donnie Crum has authorized Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office staff to conduct a “Drug Take Back” event on Saturday, April 28 from 10am to 2pm in coordination with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration.
This will be the fourth Drug Take Back event the Sheriff’s Office has held in the community. The WCSO maintains a Drug Take Back container in the lobby of the WCSO throughout the year that has been heavily used by the community. This is another attempt to remove unwanted, unused drugs from the homes of citizens so they will not fall into the wrong hands or be disposed of improperly and possibly contaminate the groundwater.
Uniformed deputies will be at three locations during the event: The Wakulla County Health Department, the Kangaroo gas station in Wakulla Station and Crum’s Mini Mall in Panacea. They will have containers to receive the drugs. These are the same locations as the last event.
Look for the “Drug Take Back Event Today” signs. The past successful events have resulted in numerous pounds of drugs being collected. The unwanted drugs will be collected and turned over to the DEA and destroyed.
