United Daughters of the Confederacy Scholarships Now Available

cotton-bowlWith the end of another school year in sight, high school seniors and current college co-eds are not only looking forward to summer break but financial resources for next year.

The United Daughters of the Confederacy is there to help.

The UDC offers scholarships on various levels of its organization including local, state, and national levels.  Scholarships are available to descendants of Confederate veterans who gave faithful service during the War Between the States (1861-1865).

Any scholar who feels he/she may qualify should contact Michelle Kirby at rdonmcleodudc@gmail.com as soon as possible.  The state (Division) and local (Chapter) deadlines are June 15, 2012.  Please also refer to the R. Don McLeod Chapter 2469 website at:  http://rdonmcleod.wordpress.com.  The R. Don McLeod Chapter 2469 is located in Crawfordville, Florida.

The emblem of the UDC is a cotton boll superimposed on a five-pointed star.  At the tips of the points are the words of the motto:  LOVE, LIVE, PRAY, THINK, DARE.
