Grover “Sonny” Cleveland Whaley, Jr., 79, of Los Lunas, N.M. passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 in Tallahassee, Florida.
He was born August 6, 1932 in St. Marks, Florida. He retired after 30 years as a Chief Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He loved to travel. He loved hunting and fishing in his younger days in Alaska. He was a devoted family man.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marks Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
He is also survived by one brother: Charlie Whaley of St. Marks, Florida; two sisters: Clester Horne and Genevieve Oaks, both of Medart, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents: Grover Cleveland Whaley, Sr. and Henrietta Gertrude Whaley; two brothers: Eugene Floyd and Robert Floyd; and sister Mary Martin.
