Here's a recap of upcoming events for the Iris Garden Club of Wakulla County:

Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 - 1:00pm at the Wakulla County Public Library - June Ann Hassebroek, a national floral design judge will present "Flower Arranging-Fast and Fun" for this month's program.  Bring a friend or prospective member, a snack to share, and/or something for the raffle table.  Come early and help us set up the room or stay after the program to help put everything back in its place.

Wednesday, Feb. 22 - Youth gardening at COAST; 7th grade 11:30-12:30, 5th grade club 1:45-2:30.  We'll be pruning the shrubs, ridding the area of smilax and other undesirables, and pulling weeds.  Let me know if you want to help and I'll tell you what to bring.

Tuesday, Feb. 28 10:30-12:00 noon - Come and help Tamara with the garden therapy program at the Wakulla County Senior Center.  Contact Tamara for details about what you'll be doing.

Potting Parties for the Plant Extravaganza at the Sopchoppy Worm Gruntin' Festival - April 12th

We need to get ready for our biggest money maker of the year.  Look around your yard (and the yards of your friends and relatives) and see what is in need of dividing.  Dig up the extras and keep the roots wet.  We'll meet at Tamara's and put them in pots of good soil for the Extravaganza.  Several of my friends and our young gardeners at COAST have already started potting up plants for the occasion.  So far we have violas and mint that self seeded and spread in the school gardens, irises, aloes and red cedars that were donated by friends and several plants that are stored in my greenhouse.  We'll schedule the potting parties at next Tuesday's meeting.

I hope to see all of you at our meeting this Tuesday for an enjoyable time with other "plant people".
