Born May 23, 1973 in Quincy, Florida, Dawane passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012, after a long illness.
A resident of Tallahassee, he was a loving, devoted father of two wonderful girls, great brother, son and exceptional friend. He was a former employee of The City of Tallahassee and owner of Carter’s Tree Service. Many positive things can be said about Dawane. Above all, he was a great father and friend. The world is now missing a beautiful piece to the puzzle where Dawane once was.
He is survived by his daughters: Cedar Lyn and Sydne Jade; as well as his parents, Jack Carter and DeRenda Carter; his beloved second mother, Bette Strickland; grandmothers: Allene Faircloth and Mary Carter; brother, John David Carter and sisters: DaRanda Elkins (Nick), Joanna Barnes (Jason), Jessica Carter and Leanne Crowson (Jonathon); six nieces and eight nephews. He will also be missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers: John Carter and Hubert Faircloth; his brother James Richard Carter and other dearly missed family members.
Services celebrating the life of David Dawane Carter will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012, at River of Life Church, 445 Donaldson-Williams Road, Crawfordville, with burial following at The Woodville Cemetery. The viewing will be immediately before services beginning at 1:00 pm.
